[SBI Holdings completes $290M acquisition of Japan crypto exchange bitbank]

SBI Holdings has completed its acquisition of Japanese cryptocurrency exchange bitbank for $290 million, News Bitcoin reported. Following the deal, SBI is expected to hold about $6.97 billion in custody assets and 2.92 million cryptocurrency accounts across the group, making it Japan’s largest exchange operator by custody assets.

[NEAR Intents lead says full $3.8M stolen in hack has been returned]

Alex Shevchenko, who leads cross-chain protocol NEAR Intents, said on X that all funds stolen in a hack worth about $3.8 million had been returned and the related investigation would be halted. Shevchenko added that instead of carrying out service-disrupting attacks, users should use the bug bounty program.

He had previously warned that the attacker had been identified and called for the funds to be returned within 48 hours.

Under the proposal, the foundation would hold Aave IP under DAO oversight. About three-quarters of major UK financial institutions expect tokenization to reshape financial services, Cointelegraph reported, citing a survey by Lloyds Banking Group, the UK’s largest financial services provider.

BNY, the world’s largest custodian bank and formerly Bank of New York Mellon, is in talks with Payward, Kraken’s parent company, on a broad partnership spanning digital assets and financial market infrastructure, CoinDesk reported, citing industry sources.

The partnership could cover cryptocurrency products, custody, asset management, trading, payments and infrastructure, according to the report. The Independent Community Bankers of America has sued the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, arguing the regulator abused its authority by allowing cryptocurrency companies to obtain national trust bank charters, according to Crypto Briefing.

Uniswap accounted for about 60% of stock-token, or tokenized equity, trading volume on decentralized exchanges in September, ranking first, Crypto Briefing reported. Stock-token DEX volume surged 10,163.7% from a year earlier to $48.7 billion, with Uniswap v4 and v3 taking 40.7% and 19.4% shares, respectively. The share of stock-token trading in total DEX spot volume expanded to more than 4% this year from about 0.1% at the end of last year. Crypto Briefing said stock tokens are drawing attention for allowing 24-hour trading, while liquidity remains fragmented across multiple platforms and blockchains.

[U.S. SEC approves rule change for listing 3x leveraged Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs]

The U.S. SEC approved on Oct. 2 a proposed rule change to allow the exchange listing of Volatility Shares’ 3x leveraged Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, along with ETFs tied to gold, silver, crude oil and natural gas.

According to an SEC document, the approval covers a rule change filed by Cboe BZX Exchange. The approved products include the 3x leveraged Bitcoin ETF (BITH) and the 3x leveraged Ethereum ETF (ETHK). The two funds each aim to track three times the daily return of their underlying assets. The approval applies to the exchange’s listing rules, and separate procedures are still required before actual trading can begin.
