LD Capital founder Jack Yi said the broader uptrend remains unchanged despite the recent market pullback.

[South Korea to press ahead with crypto tax in January, minister says]

South Korea will proceed as scheduled with taxation on digital assets in January, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lee Hyoung-il said at a plenary meeting of the National Assembly’s planning and finance committee on Sept. 28.

Asked by People Power Party lawmaker Park Soo-young whether Lee could take responsibility if preparations for digital asset taxation were inadequate, Lee said he would. Lee also reiterated the government’s position that the tax, scheduled to take effect in January, will move forward as planned.

Lee added that around 85% of holders own less than 5 million won and said those with under 5 million won in holdings would face little or only minimal tax burdens because a basic deduction of 2.5 million won applies. For investors in their twenties and thirties, Lee said about 90% hold less than 5 million won, so the tax burden is not expected to be significant, while adding that the government will also look for supplementary measures to secure taxpayer acceptance if issues arise during implementation.

[Exchange BTC outflows average 16.1K a day, while futures buying stays weak]

Bitcoin is leaving cryptocurrency exchanges at a rapid pace, but futures markets still are not showing a buying advantage, according to CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr.

In a blog post, Adler said average daily net BTC outflows from exchanges over the past seven days stood at 16,100 BTC as of Sept. 27, the highest level since early October 2025. At the same time, the 30-day average of a positioning index tracking the balance between buying and selling in perpetual futures has remained in negative territory for six straight days since Sept. 23. Adler said a recovery in the index above zero while exchange net outflows continue could strengthen a bullish signal. On the other hand, Adler said selling pressure could intensify if exchange flows shift to net inflows while the index remains negative.

[THORChain says it cannot block individual hack-linked addresses]

Cross-chain decentralized exchange THORChain (RUNE) said it cannot individually block addresses tied to hacked funds and that shutting down the network would be an emergency security measure affecting the entire protocol, not a tool to stop specific funds from moving.

In a post on X, THORChain said it did not blacklist the attacker’s address during the May exploit in which $10.7 million was stolen from a liquidity pool, so swaps were not blocked. THORChain added it is permissionless by design and does not censor transactions.

On the issue, information security expert Michael Perklin said node operators would have to turn off their nodes to stop the movement of illicit funds, but doing so would also halt legitimate transactions. Perklin argued THORChain is a neutral tool like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

THORChain was previously said to have rejected Bitget’s request to block addresses linked to hacked funds.

The metric now stands at 1.15, indicating short-term holders are sitting on average unrealized gains of about 15%. Darkfost added that short-term holders’ market capitalization is also above realized capitalization, and said the expanding profit zone warrants close monitoring as it could trigger profit-taking.

China’s counterespionage authorities warned that cryptocurrencies are being used in illegal activities including cyberattacks and anti-China operations, according to Yonhap News.

China’s Ministry of State Security said today on social media platform WeChat that some people mistakenly believe receiving overseas funds in cryptocurrency enables true anonymous transactions and helps them evade legal penalties through what they see as untraceable features. The ministry said cryptocurrencies are not beyond the reach of the law and that their so-called anonymity is only superficial. It added that cryptocurrencies not only carry a risk of financial losses, but are also frequently used by overseas anti-China hostile forces and illegal actors in crimes that disrupt financial order and threaten national security, warning the public to clearly recognize their nature and remain vigilant.

[Compound Foundation accused of improper use of 8.42 million DAI reserves]

The Compound Foundation has been accused of improperly using 8.42 million DAI from Compound V2 reserves, according to Odaily. On-chain analyst ugurmersin said the DAI was moved to exchanges, swapped for 344,780 COMP, and then delegated to the foundation’s own voting address.

The COMP was later returned about 58 minutes before voting closed on proposals 580 and 582. The side raising the allegations claimed the foundation used the process to secure DAO voting power and effectively influence key governance proposals, including passage of a $52 million V4 plan. The allegations are based on on-chain records and the analyst’s claims, and no official explanation from the foundation or final determination on the legality of the transactions has been confirmed.
