Does God tell us to redeem culture and offer it to Him in worship?
Is a "rock concert worship" service compatible with a proper understanding of worship, forms, and circumstances?

Episode 55
Show Notes:
The very fact that God says βdo not worship me in this wayβ implies that we are not to worship him in any way not prescribed by him. God alone decides the form of worship that he accepts.
Simply put, Godβs people are to stick to Godβs commands. Not adding or taking away. We are not to innovate in our worship of God. We are not to borrow pagan practices and use them to worship the true God (Rome), nor are we to make up our own ceremonies and techniques (evangelicalism).
Colossians 2:16, 22β23
16 Therefore, no one is to judge you in food and drink, or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath dayβ β . . .
22 Which deal with everything destined to perish with use, which are in accordance with the commands and teachings of men;
23 which are matters having, to be sure, a word of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.
Exodus 20:4β6
4 βYou shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
5 You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Episode 56
Show Notes:
We begin a new series on church membership.
In the PCP directory for worship, ch. 10:
The Minister shall then address those making a profession, using the following or like form: (All of you) being present profession of your faith, are to assent to the following declarations and promises, by which you enter into a solemn covenant with Christ and his Church:
1. Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving his displeasure, and without hope save in his sovereign mercy?
2. Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and depend upon him alone for salvation as he is offered in the Gospel?
3. Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?
4. Do you promise to serve Christ in his Church by supporting and participating in its worship and work to the best of your ability?
5. Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to further its purity and peace?
After these questions have been answered in the affirmative, baptism may be administered if there are present any candidates for this ordinance. Prayer may then be offered, after which the Minister
may declare:
βIn as much as you made profession of your faith obedience, have received Christian baptism, and have by the Church Session been admitted to the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, I declare you entitled to all the privileges of this congregation and of the full fellowship of the Church Universal.β
To begin, we need to understand what Oaths & Vows are.
Westminster Confession of Faith ch. 22
Of Lawful Oaths and Vows
1. A lawful oath is a part of religious worship, wherein, upon just occasion, the person swearing solemnly calleth God to witness what he asserteth, or promiseth, and to judge him according to the truth or falsehood of what he sweareth.
2. The name of God only is that by which men ought to swear, and therein it is to be used with all holy fear and reverence. Therefore, to swear vainly, or rashly, by that glorious and dreadful Name; or, to swear at all by any other thing, is sinful, and to be abhorred. Yet, as in matters of weight and moment, an oath is warranted by the Word of God, under the new testament as well as under the old; so a lawful oath, being imposed by lawful authority, in such matters, ought to be taken.
3. Whosoever taketh an oath ought duly to consider the weightiness of so solemn an act, and therein to avouch nothing but what he is fully persuaded is the truth: neither may any man bind himself by oath to anything but what is good and just, and what he believeth so to be, and what he is able and resolved to perform.
4. An oath is to be taken in the plain and common sense of the words, without equivocation, or mental reservation. It cannot oblige to sin; but in anything not sinful, being taken, it binds to performance, although to a man's own hurt. Nor is it to be violated, although made to heretics, or infidels.
5. A vow is of the like nature with a promissory oath, and ought to be made with the like religious care, and to be performed with the like faithfulness.
6. It is not to be made to any creature, but to God alone: and, that it may be accepted, it is to be made voluntarily, out of faith, and conscience of duty, in way of thankfulness for mercy received, or for the obtaining of what we want, whereby we more strictly bind ourselves to necessary duties; or, to other things, so far and so long as they may fitly conduce thereunto.
