RT @Arianespace: 4,100 kg.

Metop-SGA1 is, to date, the heaviest single satellite launched by Ariane 6.

On August 12, 2025, during VA264, Arianespace successfully delivered MetOp-SGA1, EUMETSAT’s next-generation weather satellite into Sun-synchronous orbit from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

This second commercial flight of Ariane 6 once again demonstrated the launcher’s performance, precision and reliability in Ariane 62 configuration.

By placing Metop-SGA1 into orbit, Arianespace supports a mission critical for weather forecasting, climate monitoring and environmental observation, while fulfilling its commitment to guarantee Europe’s autonomous access to space.

Delivering performance. Enabling purpose.
