You're not imagining it. Life in Britain is getting worse.

Real wages are still barely above where they were before the 2008 financial crash. That’s over 15 years where workers have effectively stood still while the cost of living is sky rocketing.

Private rents have risen by roughly 30–40% in the last decade. In many areas, a third or more of your wage disappears into housing before you’ve even lived a day of your life.

Energy bills remain far higher than they were just a few years ago, even after the so-called “relief”.

Food prices have surged and credit use is climbing just to bridge the gap. People are using apps like clearpay for a takeaway.
This isn't living, it's surviving. We believe that all our consumer purchases give us freedom, but a choice of ten different types of trainers doesn't revive workers from a day-to-day existence.

Public services show the same pattern. NHS waiting lists in England have been sitting at over 7 million cases. An issue created to push us towards insurance based healthcare.

Councils have lost any power against central government with their only remit is to make cuts, with the deepest cuts hitting working-class areas.

This isn’t an economy being carefully managed for the population, it's finance capital squeezing every bit of profit they can.

This is what capitalism looks like in decay.
Nothing new is being built. What already exists is being sold for parts.

One thing that doesn't change is corporate profits remain strong, wealth concentrates even more at the top, and the same political class becomes more ravenous and war mongering.

Capitalism has always exploited workers. At one time British capitalism could use its exploitation abroad to placate workers at home, workers with a better level of class consciousness.
Now those streams are shrinking, they have to attack workers at home. Workers whose class awareness is nowhere near what it was.
Our only hope is to build that awareness back up. The class struggle needs the masses aligned to remove the ruling class.

"The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of world history.”

- Mao Tse-tung, On Coalition Government.

A tale of 2 cities:

Pic 1: Working class, diverse Berlin (Wedding)

Pic 2: Rich, white Berlin (Mitte)

Marx ones said that it is the social existence that determines the consciousness of men.

Stalin's picture held proudly in the crowd, but modern historians will have us believe he was hated by all.

Livorno Shuts It Down!

On the 25th of April, Italian Liberation Day, dockworkers united to block the loading and unloading of arms en route to occupied Palestine. All solidarity and power to the people of conscience that shut down the port in a blatant refusal of the ongoing systemic feeding of militarization.

The ruling class is not patriotic to country, only to capital. It has spent decades hollowing out Britain. They sold off industry, destroyed communities, stripped workers of power, and handed whole sectors of the country over to private profiteers. Now the same politicians and media figures who oversaw that decay wrap themselves in the flag and demand loyalty from the people they abandoned. Blaming migrant workers for the issues they created.

That is why so many right-wing movements cling so heavily to patriotism. They know people are angry. They know people are feeling disconnected and are struggling under the weight of capitalism in decay. Instead of directing that anger upwards towards the finance capital that is responsible, they direct it towards migrants, foreigners, and ordinary people abroad who are suffering under the same system.

There is nothing wrong with loving your country. There is nothing wrong with caring about your community, your history, your people, or the places that shaped you. Working people built Britain. Workers dug the coal, forged the steel, built the docks, railways, homes, and factories. The country belongs far more to those who laboured for it than those who profit from it.

But patriotism becomes poisonous when it turns into chauvinism. When people are taught that their enemy is another worker speaking a different language instead of the millionaire gutting their town for profit. The man struggling in Liverpool has more in common with the worker in Cairo, Glasgow, or Mumbai than he does with the billionaire waving a Union Jack from a corporate boardroom.

Real pride should not come from feeling superior to others. It should come from the toil of workers who built the ivory towers the bourgeoisie rule from.
A nation is not its ruling class. It is it's Proletariat.

Be proud of where you come from. Be proud of your culture and your community. Be proud of the workers all around the world who toil to create what we take for granted. But never forget who is truly behind the destruction of our material conditions.

Pride in your country is fine. Pride in your class is better.

Landlords are complaining about the new Renters Rights Act.

Landlords, remember, do not build or maintain homes. They are not productive workers. They just own property and make a living from someone who needs to live there.
Now they are threatening to make people homeless as their profits may fall.
Laws alone won’t make things better for Renters while landlords are allowed to do this, only a complete change of system will.
You don’t have to be a radical to know it’s wrong to kick someone out of their home for your own gain.
A society someone can make a living from providing a basic human need is not a free society. Even fair landlords are doing something which should not be allowed. If renting out a property is your only way to make a living, neither you nor your tenant are free.

You will hear that there is a housing shortage because of building regulations, because of immigration. It isn’t. It’s profiteering like this, utter greed and contempt for fellow humans that causes artificial housing shortages
Landlords are not being demonised. Demons aren’t real. Parasites are real and landlordIsm is parasitism.

Football is a working class sport being wrecked by capital. Fans know that and regular protest against it.

It's great to see class solidarity in any form, but it would be great to see this translated to every day struggles.
