The Republic of Ireland delayed their pre-match press conference before Sunday’s UEFA Nations League game against Israel in Hungary, amid calls from campaigners to boycott the fixture over the Israel-Gaza war.

The delay came after players held a meeting to discuss the match, with reports suggesting some wanted to withdraw.

UEFA later said the press conference would be moved to the team hotel, but no new time was confirmed.

All 50 districts of Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, have been declared disaster areas after heavy rain caused widespread flooding and disruption.

A nine-year-old Christian boy from Jerusalem’s Armenian community was pepper-sprayed by Jewish extremists while riding his bicycle during Yom Kippur.

According to Israeli media, the attackers confronted the boy, identified as William, and demanded that he remove his headphones.

After hearing him speak English, they shouted “No English, Jews” and sprayed him with pepper spray.

Police closed the case without arrests despite CCTV footage.

Republic of Ireland players are considering boycotting Sunday’s Nations League match against Israel after goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu said he did not want to play in protest over Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Players held meetings at their team hotel in Hungary to discuss whether to collectively refuse to play. Captain Dara O’Shea said all views would be respected before any decision was made.
