The Republic of Ireland delayed their pre-match press conference before Sunday’s UEFA Nations League game against Israel in Hungary, amid calls from campaigners to boycott the fixture over the Israel-Gaza war.

The delay came after players held a meeting to discuss the match, with reports suggesting some wanted to withdraw.

UEFA later said the press conference would be moved to the team hotel, but no new time was confirmed.

A nine-year-old Christian boy from Jerusalem’s Armenian community was pepper-sprayed by Jewish extremists while riding his bicycle during Yom Kippur.
