In 2019, I said "America deserved 9/11." I apologized shortly thereafter, I think it was a day after, for the language that I used, the wording that I used.

I don't think it was appropriate because of, obviously, the heinous crime that had taken place. 3,000 Americans died.

I don't think that's acceptable in any way, shape or form. I'm not pro-terrorism. And that's precisely the reason why I apologized.

Not that I'm expecting anyone to show grace in that moment to say, "Oh, well, you apologized, and it's fine." Of course, it's politics.

People are going to insincerely keep pushing whatever they find to be advantageous.

When I say Mao's a great leader, I mean he's a great man of history.

I think that there are things that Mao Zedong did that were unbelievably impressive.

Having said that, of course, the Cultural Revolution was an abject disaster. I mean, it was a completely disastrous policy.

The industrialization policies led to the Great Leap Forward and the industrialization policies also led to horrifying numbers of excess casualties, excess deaths.

So the argument that I present is if those things had not happened, I think we would look at Mao Zedong as probably one of the most impressive historical forces, but those things did happen, nevertheless.

Macron says France is strengthening vigilance against Russian hybrid threats and is preparing a protection plan for critical infrastructure and sensitive defence sites against potential drone and cyber attacks.

The Russian hybrid threat towards Europeans and France has intensified in recent weeks.

Russia’s Putin envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Germany’s AfD leaders are preparing talks on restoring Russian gas supplies to Germany, including a possible reopening of Nord Stream pipelines.

The meeting could take place in 2027 if a Russia-Ukraine peace framework is reached.

AfD co-leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla are expected to attend, while the party has pushed for ending the boycott of Russian oil and gas to reduce energy costs.

Pakistan has reintroduced austerity measures to conserve fuel amid renewed Middle East tensions.
