The Pentagon considered a plan in June 2026 to cut roughly 25,000 U.S. troops from Europe, a move that would have pushed American force levels below a 76,000-troop minimum mandated by Congress.
Before Defense Secretary Pete Hegsethโs NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels in June, he had planned to announce the reduction, but the proposal faced internal resistance.
Instead, Hegseth announced a six-month review of U.S. forces in Europe, assessing alliesโ defense contributions, military capabilities, basing arrangements and support for U.S. priorities.

Polish PM Donald Tusk:
As a historian, I know perfectly well that the methods of Russian actions have remained unchanged for centuries. Attacking neighbors under the pretext of liberation.
History, as we know, does not repeat itself, but it rhymes, and today we must read those rhymes of history with the seriousness they deserve.

Polish PM Donald Tusk:
In May 1939, a certain French politician, a future Nazi collaborator, asked in the French press: "Why die for Gdaลsk?"
A few months later, all of Europe was dying.
To those who today say that this is not our war, I remind them of this lesson of history.

In 1939, our allies existed practically only on paper. We were left alone. Today we are in NATO and the European Union.
We are spending almost 5% of GDP on defense. That is nearly twice as much as Germany and more than twice as much as France. We are building one of the strongest armies in Europe.
From the EUโs SAFE program, we received โฌ44 billion, the most of all EU countries. And Polish borders today are the best-protected borders on the entire continent.

My assessment is that Iran as a state is not supporting the Houthis.
I do not think Iran will open another front when it is already involved in a conflict in this region.
These informal arrangements โ the way they operate โ do not wait for any permission, support or approval. If the Houthis see a vulnerability, they push it.

UN human rights experts said there are โreasonable groundsโ to believe the U.S. committed war crimes in two strikes on Iran that killed at least 177 civilians.
A UN fact-finding report said February strikes on a primary school in Minab, which killed at least 156 people including 120 children, and a sports complex in Lamerd, which killed 21 civilians, appeared to be indiscriminate attacks on civilian sites.
The U.S. has denied targeting civilians, disputed responsibility for the Lamerd strike, and said it was investigating the Minab attack.

Trump told Axios he is approaching a critical decision on whether to resume major military action against Iran or pursue another path to end the conflict.
โI have a big decision coming up. Do I want to go in and annihilate them [the Iranian regime] or do I not? Itโs a big decision. Anything could happen with me.โ
Trump said he plans to use a meeting with leaders from six Gulf countries during the UN General Assembly to discuss the next steps.
โI want to find out where they are and how they are doing. We have been very protective of them.โ

Italian PM Meloni:
I believe these provocations from Moscow are multiplying because Putin needs to shift attention by creating an escalation with Europe.
This comes from a situation on the battlefield in Ukraine that is not going as Putin had predicted, declared and promised to his people.
I think we should not respond to these provocations. Responding to these provocations would be more in the interest of Moscow than of Europe.

I think that formalizing and identifying who speaks on behalf of Europe would strengthen the European position.
I believe that today, in good faith, we are multiplying formats, events and interlocutors.
Having a single interlocutor in a delicate phase would clarify, simplify and give strength to the European position.

GREAT NEWS! Thanks to the bold leadership of my friend, Karol Nawrocki, President of Poland, major progress is being made toward establishing a U.S. Army base in Poland.
If this happens, the location will be announced very soon. This will be a historic step for our Great U.S. / Polish Alliance. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Iran rapidly rebuilding the Taleghan 2 facility at the Parchin military complex โ a former nuclear weapons program site 30km southeast of Tehran.
Iran has draped a large tarp over the site to hide work from satellites, with heavy construction underneath: dump trucks, bulldozers, concrete pumps, cranes, and new blast-reinforcement walls.
This is the third rebuild cycle. Israel struck the original building in October 2024.
Iran rebuilt it with a new high-explosive containment vessel buried under a concrete sarcophagus.
Israel hit it again in March 2026 with bunker-busters, punching three holes into the chamber and destroying the internal structure.
Iran started repairs by June 2026 and is now accelerating under concealment.
ISIS (Institute for Science and International Security) calls the repeated rebuilding of a former AMAD nuclear weapons program high-explosives test site "deeply concerning."
