Putin:

With the citizens of the country, we will overcome any difficulties and any challenges.

All the problems are temporary. But Moscow, Russia โ€” they are eternal.

For the first time in decades, NATO allies held submarine-hunting drills off Iceland without U.S. ships or aircraft, as European and Canadian forces took the lead in defending the North Atlantic.

The exercise focused on the GIUK Gap, a key route for Russian nuclear-powered submarines entering the Atlantic, amid growing concerns over Russia and the U.S. pullback from Europe.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vuฤiฤ‡ said he would resign as president and run for prime minister if his ruling party wins an early parliamentary election expected on Oct. 25.

The election follows more than a year of mass, student-led protests over corruption and the November 2024 Novi Sad train station canopy collapse that killed 16 people.

NEW: U.S. Central Command said it struck three Iranian oil tankers after the IRGC launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. Navy warships.

CENTCOM said the American vessels avoided the attacks and no U.S. personnel were injured.

In response, U.S. forces disabled the M/T Downy and M/T Stark 1 and destroyed the M/T Kylo, also known as Noxen, after its crew abandoned ship.

Japanโ€™s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi:

On September 4, in the city of Khabarovsk, Russia, an unveiling ceremony was held for a bronze statue of the Victory over Japan Memorial, depicting a Soviet soldier destroying a boundary marker imprinted with the Chrysanthemum Crest.

In particular, the Chrysanthemum Crest is widely recognized as a crest symbolizing Japan, and the installation of a memorial depicting its destruction is utterly unacceptable.

This is an issue concerning the feelings of the Japanese people, and as the government, we have strongly requested the Russian side to halt the installation and remove it.

We will continue to strongly urge its removal.

Zelensky:

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodrรญguez Parrilla:

It would in no way seem serious to claim that an island of these dimensions could constitute a threat to the principal nuclear power.

Cuba is not, and cannot be, a threat to U.S. national security or the U.S. economy. It is not an enemy, nor does it intend to be one.

This U.S. government desperately needs to try to justify the atrocious policies it applies against our people.

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodrรญguez Parrilla:

With complete realism, we are preparing for the defense of our nation, as is the Cuban tradition, and we hope that it never happens.

But at the same time, we have said, and we will do so with complete firmness, that we will defend our right to self-determination at all costs.

Cuba represents an alternative to savage capitalism.

U.S. politicians are concerned about the existence of an alternative model to the one they would like to impose on the entire planet.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Pakistan:

Back then, there was nothing but disappointment and frustration. Pakistan was out of control.

Today, those who spread terrorism are on the back foot.

If Pakistan does anything malicious, Indiaโ€™s armed forces enter their home and kill them.

John Bolton on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth:

I don't think he was qualified for the job to begin with.

According to reporting, he applied to Trump for the job of Pentagon spokesman, which would have been a perfect thing to have given his background.

He's in way over his head.

John Bolton on Iran:

I think and have thought for decades that the only way you're ever going to get true lasting peace and security in the Middle East is to get rid of the regime in Tehran.

I think the U.S.-Israeli strikes did considerable damage to the regime.

I think we made a lot of mistakes, that's for sure.

But the objective is still realizable if we were willing to think through how to do it.

John Bolton:

It is unfortunate that for a variety of reasons, sometimes civilians are killed.

It's not something we seek to do. And I think when we recognize we made a mistake, the United States admits it.

When you come to a conclusion, you should admit it. We shouldn't be ashamed of it.
