The Pentagon has launched an unusually large leak investigation, giving polygraph tests to roughly 50 members of the Joint Staff after news reports exposed shortages of key U.S. munitions during the war with Iran.
Investigators asked officers and civilian employees whether they had shared classified information with journalists, including details about depleted missile and Patriot interceptor stocks.
Officials described the scale of the effort as unprecedented for senior military personnel.

The White House has considered candidates to replace Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg.
No decision has been made, and both the White House and Pentagon say he is not being pushed out.
A departure would add to recent Pentagon leadership turnover as concerns grow over weapons shortages and munitions production.

The Justice Departmentโs antitrust division was briefly told to pause cooperation with Canadian authorities as U.S.-Canada trade tensions intensified.
An internal email instructed staff to stop joint casework and policy engagement, but DOJ later said the directive resulted from a misunderstanding: the original instruction was only to postpone a scheduled meeting.
The official who sent the pause order later corrected it and told staff that cooperation with Canada could continue.

We're talking about $200 billion that will be invested in our economy over the coming years.
These investments will expand our exports, strengthen Argentina's geopolitical position, and enable us to advance our claim to sovereignty over the Falkland Islands (Malvinas).

UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband:
I just came out of this meeting talking about Gaza to people who've been there and are there on the ground.
And frankly, it was horrific what is unfolding. You know, the stories that people were telling me of medicines being blocked, children dying while waiting for vital life-saving treatment.
When you hear that account of what is happening, you know that we as a UK government, as the Prime Minister has said, have got to act and act more decisively than we have.

The U.S. used access to advanced Nvidia AI chips as an incentive to help secure a preliminary Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal.
Washington offered Armenia export approvals for tens of thousands of Nvidia processors tied to the $5 billion Firebird data-center project, giving Prime Minister Pashinyan a major economic benefit he could point to as a โpeace dividend.โ
The move is a notable example of the Trump administrationโs โchip diplomacyโโusing access to scarce U.S. AI technology to advance foreign-policy goals.

Germany is pressing the EU to tighten tourist visa rules for Russian citizens after an alleged sabotage plot targeting Leipzig airport.
German authorities are investigating a Belarusian man who also holds a Russian passport and reportedly entered the Schengen area on an Italian-issued tourist visa.
Berlin argues that the large number of visas still being granted to Russians creates security risks and undermines efforts to isolate Moscow over the war in Ukraine.
Italy, France and Spain continue to issue many Russian visas, while countries such as Poland, Finland and the Baltic states have imposed much stricter limits.

NEW: Ukraine reportedly ordered a temporary ceasefire along the entire front from September 5โ8, timed for the Witkoff-Kushner visits to Moscow and Kyiv.
Multiple brigades confirmed receiving "respond only" orders.
But Russia never agreed to match it โ overnight Russian drones and missiles hit Kyiv, Kharkiv, and destroyed a hypermarket in Mykolaiv.
By morning the General Staff said defensive operations continue "in full" because a ceasefire "cannot be unilateral."
Zelensky had separately halted Ukrainian airstrikes on Russian territory while the envoys travel.
The pause was a Ukrainian initiative, not a negotiated deal.

Ukraine's new Magura MV11 is a 12-meter unmanned boat that stays at sea for up to 7 days and carries 18 vertical-launch interceptor drones.
New footage shows it firing Wild Hornets Sting quadcopters from box launchers while underway.
Each interceptor costs about $2,100, is 3D-printed, and can reach 7,000 meters altitude.
Earlier smaller Magura drones sank Russian warships and shot down helicopters with air-to-air missiles.
The MV11 shifts the concept from kamikaze strikes to a mobile anti-drone mothership โ creating an offshore interceptor screen against Shahed-type drones.
Still in testing, no confirmed combat use yet.

NEW: Russia hit near both Kyiv airports as Witkoff and Kushner were reportedly about to fly in from Moscow.
A drone hit two old Soviet planes at Zhulyany, the in-city airport.
A Ukrainian MP said the envoys had been close to agreeing to land at Boryspil but would likely take a train instead.
The envoys landed in Moscow on September 5 and are still expected in Kyiv tomorrow.

Zelensky:
It is clear that these Russian strikes on airports are a reaction to discussions and preparations regarding the possibility of the American side using an aircraft to arrive in Ukraine and land at either "Kyiv" or "Boryspil" airport.
These Russian-Iranian "Shahed" drones are a response to American diplomacy.
We have recorded this Russian move and will adjust our operations regarding Russian airspace next week, as it has become dangerous due to the presence of drones and missiles in the sky.
Of course, there are and will be no threats to diplomacy from our side.

Niger formally accused "Macron's French regime" of masterminding last week's failed mutiny in Niamey.
Mutinous soldiers attacked the presidential palace, an air base, and state TV before being crushed by loyalist forces backed by Russia's Africa Corps.
At least three guards were killed, dozens of mutineers arrested.
Niger thanked Russia, Algeria, and its Sahel allies for support.
France called the accusations "pure fantasies."
