The UK government is expected to approve the controversial Jackdaw gas field off the coast of Aberdeen in mid-September.

Oman has quietly rejected Iran's push to jointly charge ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, even on a voluntary basis.

This undercuts the IRGC's claim last week that the two countries had agreed on dividing the waterway's revenues.

Oman says charging ships to transit would violate international law and is pulling back under US and Gulf pressure.

Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln were reportedly instructed not to speak to the media about deteriorating conditions on the ship as they arrived in Thailand after a record 286 days at sea.

Despite the restriction, sailors privately described the deployment, while Captain Dan Keeler acknowledged shortages of fresh food and basic supplies but rejected claims that conditions were as severe as reported.
