German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will meet Pete Hegseth in Washington on September 15, after Hegseth had previously rebuffed a meeting between the two.

The meeting coincides with Pistorius's trip to Texas for a rollout ceremony marking the delivery of Germany's first F-35 fighter jets.

The talks follow strained U.S.-German relations after Trump ordered 5,000 U.S. troops withdrawn from Germany in May following Merz’s criticism of the U.S. war with Iran.

The Trump administration has imposed tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones, targeting China’s dominant drone industry and pushing for more U.S. production.

Drones over 55 pounds or equipped with thermal imaging face the highest tariff, while smaller drones face 25% tariffs.
