Iran is considering a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by creating a voluntary fund financed by Gulf states and European countries that rely on the route.

Rather than imposing formal tolls, the fund would cover navigation, environmental protection, and search-and-rescue services, similar to the existing model used in the Strait of Malacca.

The proposal, reportedly backed by Oman, could provide a legal workaround since international law does not permit mandatory transit fees in key shipping chokepoints.

The U.S. Army is seeking a next-generation surface-to-air missile to counter small drones at longer ranges, with a target cost of under $150,000 per missile.

The Army wants the new missile to integrate with existing air defense systems, improve on the current Coyote counter-drone system, and provide a more weather-resistant alternative to laser-based defenses.

The US revoked the visa of Brazil's ambassador to Washington in response to Brazil's refusal to formally approve Trump's nominee, Daniel Perez, as US ambassador to Brasília and its recent denial of visas to several US diplomats.

The U.S., Iran, and Oman are reportedly close to a 60-day agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with the U.S. aiming to announce the deal on Wednesday.

The temporary arrangement would route inbound ships through Iranian waters and outbound ships through Omani waters without charging transit fees, while both sides work to clear naval mines and negotiate a permanent shipping agreement.
