A former US attorney with limited intelligence experience, Clayton was seen as a more acceptable choice than acting DNI Bill Pulte.

As DNI, Clayton will oversee the nation's 18 intelligence agencies and deliver the president's daily intelligence briefing.

Russia has charged Telegram founder Pavel Durov with aiding terrorism and placed him on an international wanted list, accusing Telegram of failing to remove channels allegedly used by Ukrainian intelligence and extremist groups.

Durov says the case is politically motivated and aimed at restricting Telegram and undermining privacy and free speech.

Romania's Port of Constanța has deployed two autonomous Triton maritime surveillance systems to detect and monitor sea drones.
