Officials are analyzing sectors where China still relies on German and European technology—especially semiconductor equipment, industrial lasers, specialty chemicals, and advanced medical products.

Rather than planning immediate restrictions, Berlin wants leverage in future negotiations and contingency options if China uses trade or critical materials as economic weapons again.
