Hebrew Billboards, Israeli Cash: The Quiet Takeover of Southern Cyprus

Israeli buyers have bought ~3,900โ€“4,000 properties in southern Cyprus (2021โ€“2025), mostly in Larnaca, Limassol, and Paphos, and Hebrew-language real estate ads are visible in tourist zones.

Theyโ€™re the top-tier foreign buyer group.

Hebrew-language political billboard for Israeli politician Gadi Eisenkot near Zygi drew attention from MEP Fidias Panayiotou, who framed it as a sovereignty issue.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa:

The previous regime marginalized the eastern region, despite its immense human, oil, and agricultural wealth.

The road connecting Damascus and Deir ez-Zor is a single-lane road, just one track.

We have conducted studies over the past year, completed them, and have begun accepting bids to build a new road that will connect Damascus to Deir ez-Zor.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa:

Mediations from regional countries such as Saudi Arabia and Tรผrkiye were launched. President Trump was convinced and lifted the sanctions, but there is a series of sanctions, such as Syria's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism since 1979.

This is a very old designation, and without its removal, we will not benefit significantly from lifting a ban in the Caesar Law.

Therefore, Syria must be cleared of all the laws that restrict it.

This is the path that President Trump, thankfully, took.

Q: There has been talk about Lebanon, confronting Hezbollah.

Ahmad al-Sharaa: That has nothing to do with lifting the sanctions on Syria.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa:

Lebanon is always faced with two options: either an Israeli occupation or a civil war.

So, we are trying to discuss with the Lebanese government a set of solutions that could lead Lebanon to safety and for Lebanon to benefit from the current Syrian renaissance and the interest in Syria, by being part of this comprehensive reform happening in the region.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa:

Israel has ambitions in the region, and we are not oblivious to this aspect.

We are trying, by reaching a security agreement involving a large group of countries, to pressure Israel into adopting a balanced policy towards Syria, and so on.

It is not in Syriaโ€™s interest to enter into futile conflicts. We do not want to be an extension of a historical legacy that contains many political mistakes over the past 80 years until today, and to work in the same style and way, and repeat the same experiences and get the same failed results.

If the security agreement succeeds, it could pave the way for comprehensive peace without Syria renouncing its claim to the occupied Golan Heights.

Alex Holder, the filmmaker behind an upcoming documentary about Lindsey Graham, said the senator appeared increasingly exhausted in the final weeks of his life.

When Holder asked if he was OK, Graham said he had no time to sleep because he still needed to topple Iran's regime, help broker peace between Russia and Ukraine, and normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel by the end of the year.

According to filmmaker Alex Holder, Lindsey Graham grew increasingly frustrated with both the Trump administration and fellow Republicans over the Iran war.

Graham said he battled "a lot of people inside" who opposed U.S. involvement and lamented that few administration officials were publicly making the case for the conflict.

"Very few people are out selling this war from the administration. I'm shocked," Graham said.

Holder said Graham also became frustrated with Trump after the president signed a preliminary deal with Iran in June.

In their final interview, conducted at a bagel shop in Columbia, South Carolina, just weeks before Graham's death, the senator said Trump was becoming too hesitant.

"He's letting this thing slip away," Graham said. "I got to go talk to him."

Lindsey Graham planned to travel to Florida in early March to urge Trump to join Israel in bombing Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Before the trip, however, Netanyahu advised against expanding the conflict.

"We're concentrating right now on Iran," Netanyahu told Graham, warning that attacking Hezbollah could provoke a broader regional war.

Graham agreed, replying, "That's actually good counsel."
