📸 NATO leaders convene in Ankara.

Italy's PM Giorgia Meloni was the last to arrive at the NATO summit dinner in Ankara, where she was welcomed by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

Senior U.S. military commanders reportedly approved strikes in Iran despite internal warnings that some target intelligence was more than a decade old and needed to be revalidated.

Those warnings were overridden to speed up target selection at the start of the war.

One of the strikes hit the Shajareh Tayyiba primary school in Minab, killing 168 children and 14 teachers.

U.S. officials determined within days that outdated intelligence had caused the mistake, but the Pentagon's investigation has not yet been made public.

Officials also faced intense pressure to produce targets quickly, while cuts to civilian casualty prevention teams under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reduced oversight.
