Early Wednesday, residents on Iran’s Qeshm Island reported hearing several explosion-like sounds.

The cause remains unknown, and no military or law enforcement authorities have issued an official explanation yet. Investigations are ongoing.

Trump is pushing Iran to make specific nuclear commitments in writing before the U.S. moves forward with a preliminary agreement.

The move comes after Iranian negotiators reportedly offered only verbal assurances on key nuclear issues.

During a White House meeting Friday, Trump concluded those promises were insufficient and demanded firmer written commitments.

A man crashes his car while apparently trying to watch incoming Iranian missiles in Kuwait.

CENTCOM says U.S. and allied forces intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, with no American casualties.

Missiles targeting Kuwait and Bahrain all failed or were shot down.

Three Iranian drones threatening civilian ships were also destroyed.

In response, CENTCOM struck an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claim they struck the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters and a U.S. air base in the region using missiles and drones, in retaliation for American strikes on an IRGC communications tower on Qeshm Island.

Iran also says the U.S. previously hit an Iranian tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, and that an IRGC naval vessel targeted a ship called Panaya in response.

The IRGC warned that further interference in the Strait of Hormuz will bring heavier consequences.

The Trump administration has appointed Elias Irizarry, a convicted Jan. 6 participant, to a Pentagon counterterrorism role requiring access to highly sensitive military operations.

Irizarry, who was 19 during the Capitol riot, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and served 14 days in jail before receiving a pardon from Trump in 2025.
