NEW: The US has warned Japan that delivery of 400 Tomahawk missiles could be delayed by up to two years after US stockpiles were depleted during the Iran war.

Tokyo had planned to receive the missiles by 2028 as part of its China deterrence strategy, but the Pentagon is now prioritising replenishing its own inventories.

Iran has agreed to a draft deal to stop the fighting and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The agreement would halt fighting across the region, including in Lebanon, reopen the strait to free commercial traffic, lift the U.S. naval blockade, and release $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

Nuclear issues would be negotiated separately within 30 to 60 days.

BREAKING: Shots were fired near the White House.

Russia has reportedly hit Ukraine’s Kyiv region with an Oreshnik missile.

A gunman approached the White House near Gate 17 around 6 p.m., fired three shots toward the building, and Secret Service agents returned fire, taking him down.

A civilian was also hit during the exchange. Officials say the suspect never breached the White House perimeter.

Trump is safe.

A suspect and a possible bystander were hospitalized, with the suspect in critical condition and the other person seriously injured.

Secret Service agents were fired at and returned fire. Between 15 and 30 shots were fired. Several officers were evaluated at the scene, but none were hospitalized.

The U.S. and Iran are close to signing a temporary 60-day deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, ease some sanctions on Iran, and restart negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.

In return, Iran would clear mines from the strait, allow free shipping, and commit to talks on limiting uranium enrichment and giving up highly enriched nuclear material.

The agreement is meant to prevent a wider regional war and reduce pressure on global oil markets. During the talks, U.S. forces would remain in the region, and sanctions relief would depend on Iran making verifiable concessions.

The draft also includes an understanding to end fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, though Israel has raised concerns about parts of the deal.

Trump and regional mediators hope to announce the agreement Sunday, but officials say negotiations are still fragile and could collapse at the last minute.
