U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff reacted furiously to Iran’s 10-point proposal, calling it:

“A disaster, a catastrophe.”

What followed was described as a:

“Chaotic” day of amendments.

Pakistan shuttled drafts between the U.S. and Iran, while Egypt and Türkiye tried to bridge gaps.

China also quietly urged Iran to find an off-ramp.

By Monday night, U.S. approval was secured for a revised two-week ceasefire proposal.

Just hours before Trump’s deadline to launch massive strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei instructed negotiators to move toward a deal for the first time since the war began.

An Israeli official, a regional official, and another source confirmed the shift.

Two sources described Khamenei’s approval as:

“A breakthrough.”

A regional source added:

“Without his green light, there wouldn’t have been a deal.”

Due to assassination threats, Khamenei was communicating via handwritten notes carried by runners.

He was personally involved in decisions Monday and Tuesday.

Araghchi (Iran’s FM) pushed both the negotiations and Revolutionary Guard commanders toward accepting the deal.

Even close Trump allies didn’t know what he would do.

Multiple insiders believed he would reject the ceasefire offer — until he suddenly accepted it.

Inside the Pentagon, officials were preparing for a massive bombing campaign.

One defense official said:

“We had no idea what was going to happen. It was wild.”

Allies expected large-scale Iranian retaliation.

Türkiye is in active talks with Italy to purchase and co-produce the SAMP/T air defense system, developed by the Eurosam consortium (with MBDA and Thales Group).

This system can defend against aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and some ballistic missiles, especially with the newer SAMP/T NG version using Aster 30 missiles.

European governments are growing uneasy with Mark Rutte because he has been publicly supportive of Trump’s aggressive moves, including the Iran strikes, even when many European leaders strongly disagreed.

His strategy of flattering Trump and echoing his rhetoric has given him direct access and some influence, but it’s now being seen as too deferential and potentially undermining Europe’s own position.

BREAKING: Trump:

The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change!

There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear “Dust.”

It is now, and has been, under very exacting Satellite Surveillance (Space Force!). Nothing has been touched from the date of attack.

We are, and will be, talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran. Many of the 15 points have already been been agreed to.
