Ordered by CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper, multiple B-2s flew a 36-hour round trip from Whiteman Air Force Base, dropping massive bunker-buster bombs (the same type used against Iranian nuclear sites).

The strike targeted a location where senior IRGC commanders were gathered, with U.S. officials saying the facility was destroyed and many commanders are presumed killed.

Trump said the U.S. had only publicly confirmed rescuing one crew member, while keeping quiet about the second, who was wounded and hiding in mountainous terrain.

According to Trump, a media report revealed that “there’s somebody missing,” which he claims alerted Iran that another American airman was still on the ground.

Trump argued this compromised operational security, saying it made the rescue “much more difficult” and put both the missing airman and rescue forces at risk.

He emphasized that once the information became public, Iranian forces—and even civilians—were aware and searching, especially after Iran reportedly offered a reward for capturing the pilot.

The first public hint came from Israeli journalist Amit Segal, who bragged & posted:

“Western source: One of the American crew members was successfully rescued.”

This implied another crew member was still missing.

Segal later said he was not sure he was first, but made clear he would not reveal his source.

Trump responded by launching an investigation into the leak, calling the leaker a “sick person” and warning the media outlet involved to disclose the source or face consequences: “give it up or go to jail.”
