The Turkish Transport Minister said that 14 Turkish-owned ships are waiting in the Strait of Hormuz, while one of the 15 ships has been allowed to pass with permission from Iranian authorities.

He explained that the ship was allowed through because it had used an Iranian port, while the remaining 14 ships are waiting without any problems.

Authorities arrested a Polish national in Hania, Crete, suspected of photographing military facilities near the Souda Bay naval base.

Investigators say he had been living for several months on nearby Marathi Beach and allegedly took photos of the base’s military piers.

Police and the coast guard detained him after receiving a tip.

Earlier this month, a 36-year-old Georgian national was also arrested on suspicion of spying on the base.
