Last August, Ukraine offered the U.S. its battle-tested technology for intercepting Iranian Shahed drones and proposed joint production.

The Trump administration dismissed the offer at the time, but after heavier-than-expected Iranian drone attacks in the current conflict, the U.S. has now asked Ukraine for anti-drone help.

Officials say rejecting the earlier proposal may have been a major tactical mistake, as cheap Iranian drones have already caused U.S. casualties and forced costly defenses.

The Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed to almost all ships except those linked to Iran as the Middle East conflict enters its second week.

No vessels were seen entering the Persian Gulf in the past 24 hours, and only a few ships—mostly Iran-linked—have managed to exit.

Many commercial vessels remain stuck on either side because of missile and drone threats following Iran’s retaliation against US and Israeli strikes.
