To the friendly countries that were deliberately targeted by the missiles and drones of the Revolutionary Guards and drawn into a war they did not choose: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan, France expresses its full support and full solidarity.

It stands ready, in accordance with the agreements that bind it to its partners and the principle of collective self-defense provided for by international law, to participate in their defense.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot:

The intervention decided unilaterally by Israel and the United States of America would have deserved to be debated in the collective bodies provided for this purpose.

Everyone could then have taken their responsibilities, because it is only by confronting the Security Council that the use of force can assume the necessary legitimacy.

Concern is growing inside the Pentagon that the Iran conflict could spiral and drag on for weeks.

“The mood here is intense and paranoid,” one source said.

Officials worry prolonged fighting will further drain already limited U.S. air defense stockpiles.

“There is concern about this lasting more than a few days,” another said, noting it can take “two or three interceptors” to stop a single missile.

Rep. Adam Smith warned resources are “stretched thin,” adding:

“It’s not like we can say… we’re out of missile defense systems now so we’re going to pause.”

Over time, Iran’s leaders are likely to seek a deal with the United States and Israel to secure the regime’s survival.

This could mean restoring ties with Washington, reducing direct hostility toward Israel, and adopting a more pragmatic regional stance similar to Gulf states.
