Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) claims its Alpha special forces destroyed roughly half of Russia’s Pantsir short-range air defense systems during sustained long-range strikes in 2025.

The Pantsir-S1/S2, one of Russia’s key air defense systems against Ukrainian drones, is estimated to cost $15–20 million per unit.

According to the SBU, degrading these systems created gaps in Russian air defenses, allowing deeper Ukrainian drone and precision strikes.
