A Syrian Foreign Ministry official told Rudaw that the U.S. has decided to withdraw its troops from Syria following recent gains by the Syrian Army in the northeast.

China-linked hackers secretly accessed the mobile phones of senior Downing Street officials between 2021 and 2024, exposing private calls, texts and location data.

Aides to Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak were targeted, and the breach may still be ongoing.

The operation, known as Salt Typhoon, was part of a wider global espionage campaign that also hit the US and other allies. Intelligence sources say it reached “the heart of Downing Street”.

Brazil’s President Lula spoke by phone with Trump and agreed to visit Washington soon, the Brazilian government said.

They held a 50-minute call covering several issues, including Venezuela, Trump’s new “Board of Peace” proposal, and cooperation against organized crime.

U.S. officials say any diplomatic deal under consideration would require Iran to eliminate its stockpile of enriched uranium, sharply limit long-range missiles, end support for regional proxy groups, and halt all domestic uranium enrichment.

The Trump administration deported about a dozen Iranians on Sunday, marking the first known deportation flight since Iran’s violent crackdown on protests began.

Fourteen people were reportedly on the flight. Dozens more had been expected to go but were removed due to measles exposure.

Lawyers say some detainees face severe danger if returned, including possible execution. One man told CNN, “We came to this country for safety.”

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa held a private meeting last week with Kurdish figures, promising to protect Kurdish civil and cultural rights under Syria’s new government.

The meeting took place during an unannounced visit to the Tabqa dam and included representatives from across the Kurdish political spectrum.

Sharaa reportedly criticised the leadership of the SDF, accusing them of prioritising territorial control over Kurdish rights, while stressing his aim to end fighting and reunify Syria.
