Reporter: Do you think Trump is acting or talking as an ally or a friend of Europe?

Macron: I'm not here to qualify things. Things are returning to calm, and we should be happy about that.

Macron:

We started the week with escalation — threats of invasion and tariff threats — and we have returned to a situation that seems much more acceptable to me, even if we remain vigilant.

What must be concluded is that when Europe reacts in a united way, using the instruments it has at its disposal when it is threatened, it can make itself respected, and that is a very good thing.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen:

Nobody other than Greenland and Denmark have the mandate to make deals or agreements about Greenland. That’s not going to happen.

In terms of the deal being talked about, I don’t know what is concrete in that deal, but I know that we now have a high-level working group working on a solution for both parties.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen:

We have said from the beginning that we have some red lines. We cannot cross those red lines. We have to respect our territorial integrity. We have to respect international law and sovereignty.

We are ready to cooperate more in economics and other areas, but that is something we have to discuss in mutual respect.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen:

If you want to exploit our resources, you have to respect our legislation and our very high environmental standards, because that is part of who we are and part of our culture.

But we are ready to discuss anything on mutual respect.

Greenland’s Prime Minister on the Trump–Rutte deal:

I don’t know what is in the agreement or the deal about my country, as those discussions I didn’t attend. I don’t know what is concrete in it.

What I’m saying is that we have a high-level working group that will sort things out.

U.S. F-15E fighters have been deployed to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, alongside C-17 transport aircraft delivering supplies.

If the U.S. launches a new attack on Iran, this base could be a key hub.

Located ~850–900 km from Iran’s border, it is largely beyond the range of Iran’s most accurate short-range ballistic and tactical missiles, meaning Iran would need medium-range ballistic missiles to strike it.

The U.S. is likely reinforcing the base with air and missile defense systems.

BREAKING: Washington is weighing a full U.S. troop withdrawal from Syria.

With the YPG/SDF losing territory, facing pressure to disband, and ISIS prisoners being transferred out of the region, Pentagon officials are questioning whether the mission—roughly 1,000 U.S. troops focused on containing ISIS—remains viable.

Carney responds to Trump:

Canada and the United States have built a remarkable partnership in the economy, in security, and in rich cultural exchange.

But Canada doesn’t live because of the United States. Canada thrives because we are Canadian.

Carney:

Our country was built on the bedrock of three peoples: Indigenous, French, and British.

Long before the battle on these plains, long before the first French ship sailed up the St. Lawrence, Indigenous peoples were the original stewards of this land.

They built nations, trading networks, and systems of governance that spanned the entire continent. The Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Innu shaped this land and were shaped by it.

Then the French came. They built a new society adapted to the realities of North America, shaped by the river and forest, by trade with Indigenous nations, and by the determination to survive and flourish in this land.

When the British came, that civilization did not disappear. It endured and now it thrives.
