Officials are looking for Cuban government insiders willing to make a deal to remove the Communist leadership.

They don’t have a detailed plan yet, but are intensifying pressure and urging negotiations.

Trump and Rutte reached a verbal understanding on Greenland, but no written deal exists.

Talks focused on updating a 1951 U.S.–Denmark–Greenland agreement governing the U.S. military presence. The tentative framework would expand NATO’s role, block Russian and Chinese investment, and potentially increase U.S. access to Greenland’s natural resources, though Rutte denies discussing resources directly.

No document was drafted, reportedly over concerns about leaks or social media posts, creating confusion among NATO allies. Formal terms are expected to be negotiated soon by a new U.S.–Denmark–Greenland working group in Washington.

The US and Ukraine have discussed proposing a limited energy ceasefire to Russia as part of wider efforts to de-escalate the war.

Under the idea, Russia would halt air strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure — including power plants, heating systems and water facilities — in exchange for Ukraine stopping attacks on Russian oil refineries and Russia’s “shadow fleet” of oil tankers.

Vladimir Putin is seen as unlikely to agree because strikes on Ukrainian energy networks are viewed by the Kremlin as a key source of pressure and leverage, especially during winter.

Ukraine also has reservations. Kyiv’s long-range drone campaign has been successfully hitting Russian oil and gas facilities, and more recently oil tankers in the Black Sea and Mediterranean, which Ukrainian officials see as directly undermining Russia’s ability to fund and sustain the war.

Greenland matters to American national security because our entire missile defense relies on security in the Arctic.

If a foreign country launched a missile at the United States of America, we would need control over the Arctic in order to shoot that missile down. Our entire missile defense system depends on that Arctic security.

The Chinese and the Russians and even the Danes who control Greenland want to control that facility and that land mass. That would make us weaker. That would make our country more endangered.

It would mean that if the President were negotiating with a foreign leader, he would have less leverage because they could realistically threaten the sovereignty and territorial safety of the United States of America.

We’re not going to let that happen.

When Trump sets his mind to accomplish something in negotiation, he accomplishes it.

Nobody other than Greenland and Denmark have the mandate to make deals or agreements about Greenland. That’s not going to happen.

In terms of the deal being talked about, I don’t know what is concrete in that deal, but I know that we now have a high-level working group working on a solution for both parties.

We have said from the beginning that we have some red lines. We cannot cross those red lines. We have to respect our territorial integrity. We have to respect international law and sovereignty.

We are ready to cooperate more in economics and other areas, but that is something we have to discuss in mutual respect.
