Germany’s armed forces are facing a major credibility crisis after an investigation found dozens of allegations against the elite 26th Parachute Regiment, including sexual harassment, drug use, and far-right extremism, according to the Financial Times.

The regiment, based in Zweibrücken and numbering about 1,700 soldiers, has deployed to Afghanistan, Mali, and Sudan.

Prosecutors are examining more than a dozen criminal cases, while the Bundeswehr has investigated 55 suspects.

Allegations include Hitler salutes, Nazi-style uniforms, illegal drug use, sexual harassment, antisemitic slurs, and rape threats.

A Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung report described a “far-right, openly antisemitic clique” inside the unit.

Three-star General Harald Gante said he was “practically speechless” over both the abuses and how they were handled.

BIG: Trump is threatening to imprison the Chairman of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

Here's his response:

On Friday, the Department of Justice served the Federal Reserve with grand jury subpoenas, threatening a criminal indictment related to my testimony before the Senate Banking Committee last June.

That testimony concerned in part a multi-year project to renovate historic Federal Reserve office buildings.

I have deep respect for the rule of law and for accountability in our democracy. No one, certainly not the chair of the Federal Reserve, is above the law.

But this unprecedented action should be seen in the broader context of the administration’s threats and ongoing pressure.

This new threat is not about my testimony last June or about the renovation of the Federal Reserve buildings. Those are pretexts.

The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President.

Public service sometimes requires standing firm in the face of threats.

I will continue to do the job the Senate confirmed me to do, with integrity and a commitment to serving the American people.

Trump on Iran:

They’re starting to cross the red line, it looks like, and there seem to be some people killed that aren’t supposed to be killed.

These are violent—if you call them leaders, I don’t know if they’re leaders or just they rule through violence—but we’re looking at it very seriously.
