U.S. defense tech firm Anduril Industries is facing scrutiny after two Altius drones crashed during U.S. Air Force tests at Florida’s Eglin Air Base earlier this month.

One drone plunged 8,000 feet; another spiraled to the ground shortly afterward.

The incidents, previously unreported, add to performance issues involving Anduril’s drones, including challenges faced by its Ghost reconnaissance drone in Ukraine, where early models struggled against Russian electronic warfare.

Anduril — valued at $30.5 billion and a major supplier of drones to Ukraine and Taiwan — says the failures are “isolated examples” and part of normal aggressive testing.
