NEW: Dominican President Luis Abinader has authorized the U.S. to operate in restricted areas of the San Isidro Air Base and Las Américas International Airport to support a stepped-up campaign against drug trafficking.

Standing alongside U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Abinader said the agreement is “technical, limited, and temporary,” allowing the U.S. to refuel aircraft and move equipment and personnel.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal has been confirmed as the suspect in the shooting of two National Guard members near Farragut West in Washington, D.C.

Authorities say the 29-year-old Afghan national, who arrived in the U.S. in 2021 under a Biden-era evacuation program and was granted asylum earlier this year, approached the guardsmen and opened fire without warning.

The U.S. government has halted all immigration application processing for Afghan nationals.

Bruna Ferreira, the mother of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s nephew, was detained by ICE in Massachusetts and transferred to a facility in Louisiana.

Ferreira, who came to the US from Brazil as a child, was reportedly stopped by agents while leaving to pick up her 11-year-old son.

ICE says she overstayed a 1999 tourist visa and described her as a “criminal illegal alien.”

The White House says Leavitt has had no relationship with Ferreira for years and that the child has always lived full-time with his father, Leavitt’s brother.

A Ukrainian drone operator landed an FPV drone beside a Russian soldier who was pretending to be dead.

After about a minute, the soldier made small movements that revealed he was alive, and the drone then carried out the strike.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal previously worked with multiple U.S. government entities in Afghanistan — including the CIA.

He served as part of a U.S.-aligned partner force in Kandahar, which is why he was brought to the U.S. in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome after the Afghanistan withdrawal.
