NEW: Sinan Selen, currently deputy head of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), is set to become the new president of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency.

The official announcement is expected soon, with formal approval likely within days.

Selen will be the first BfV president born outside Germany. He was born in Istanbul in 1972 and moved to Germany at age four, growing up in Cologne.
