We condemn Israel’s approval of plans to build settlements in the E1 area. This move, which will in effect sever the connection between the West Bank and East Jerusalem, disregards international law and UN resolutions, and undermines the territorial integrity of the State of Palestine, the two-state solution framework, and hopes for a lasting peace.

The establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and a geographically contiguous territory, is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.

We will continue to support the just cause and determined struggle of the Palestinian people.
