NEW: Türkiye and Israel Explore Deconfliction Line in Syria

Türkiye and Israel are holding backchannel talks to set up a deconfliction mechanism in Syria, after Israeli strikes hit the T4 airbase in Homs — a site Türkiye planned to use for drone operations.

According to Western officials, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu saw a narrow window to strike before Turkish forces arrived, after which the base would be off-limits.

“An attack on Turkish troops, even by mistake, could trigger a major conflict,” one official said.

Despite tensions, both sides released identical statements denying any intent to clash. A regional source added:

“The U.S. remains the final arbiter. Washington wants de-escalation.”
