Trump's advisers expected the Gaza idea to die after he realised it wasn't feasible.

Several advisers to Mr. Trump said they expected the Gaza ownership idea to die away quietly as it became clear to Mr. Trump that it was unfeasible.

Several senior officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive discussions, told The New York Times that they were still trying to figure out the genesis of the idea and considered it fantastical even for Mr. Trump.

Two people close to Mr. Trump insisted it was his idea alone; one said they had never heard him mention the involvement of U.S. troops before Tuesday.

The first French Mirage 2000-5 fighter jet have been delivered to Ukraine, French Defense Minister Lecornu announced.

Speaking in Goma, rebel leader Corneille Nangaa said: "We are now in Goma, dear people of Goma. Would you prefer me to stay here or where would you prefer me to go?" to which the crowd replied "Kinshasa".

There is an international arrest warrant out for Nangaa, the rebel leader, issued from Kinshasa.

Thousands of Palestinians have been displaced and dozens of homes have been demolished after more than two weeks of deadly Israeli siege and raids in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, including Jenin refugee camp.

“The Israeli army says they have launched a ‘counterterrorism’ operation to combat armed Palestinian fighters. But if you look at what is going on, you have 26,000 Palestinians who have been forcibly displaced, forced to leave their homes,” said Al Jazeera’s Hamdah Salhut.
