Ukraine has attacked 20 of Russia's 30 largest energy facilities, including a gas plant in Astrakhan and an oil refinery in Volgograd, in an effort to disrupt President Vladimir Putin's war funding.

Ukraine's military intelligence service (HUR) commander Yuriy Shchyhol highlights drone production advances.

"Our success rate has increased significantly since the beginning of the war," he says. "In 2022, we could produce up to five long-range attack drones per month. Now we are producing more than 500 per month, and that number continues to grow." While most of these drones are propeller-driven, Shchyhol reveals that Ukraine is preparing to deploy a new generation of high-speed jet drones for future missions.

As well as setting fire to refineries, Ukraine's deep strikes have caused widespread damage to Russia's military infrastructure. "Russia no longer has operational airfields within 300 kilometres to launch attacks on Ukraine," Shchyhol explains.

"Air operations require more than just a runway - they depend on refuelling stations, repair facilities and maintenance infrastructure, all of which have been severely disrupted by our strikes."
