Initial reports indicate that the passenger plane had 60 passengers and 4 crew members on board. Military sources stated that there were 3 military personnel in the Black Hawk. Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the passenger plane and the military helicopter, which crashed into the Potomac River.

During search and rescue operations, there is concern that accident victims may die from hypothermia due to the freezing cold of the Potomac River, even if they survive the collision.

NEW: Army official said the military helicopter involved in the crash was based out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
