As the hostage and ceasefire negotiations draw to a close, Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya has been appointed commander of the organisation's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

Hayya, who is also Hamas' chief negotiator and senior leader in Gaza, plays a crucial role in these negotiations.

The Saudi Hospital in El Fasher, North Darfur, the last functioning hospital in the region, has been destroyed after being shelled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

New Syrian government announced the appointment of Anas Khattab as head of the General Intelligence Service of Syria.

Anas Khattab, aka Abu Ahmad Hudood, the founder of the HTS's General Security Service, led operations against ISIS and al-Qaeda in Idlib. He has also investigated numerous crimes and has a long history of working with Ahmad al-Sharaa.

Hattab is also recognised as one of the key figures in the transformation of HTS. He is pragmatic and known as a 'grey zone player'.

#BREAKING: Preliminary investigations reveal that the Azerbaijan Airlines flight en route from Baku to Grozny was attacked near Grozny by a Russian Pantsir-S air defense system missile.
