Ukrainian President Viktor Zelenskiy has called for a major reinforcement of the 1,000-km (600-mile) front line in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces have made steady gains in recent months.

Zelenskiy made his appeal as the Russian defence ministry said its troops had captured two new villages in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.

"The Donetsk directions need significant reinforcement. This includes, in particular, the supply of weapons from our partners," Zelenskiy said.

Gaza: New evacuation order affects more than 2,000 in Khan Younis

Over 2,000 people have been displaced by an Israeli evacuation order in Gaza's Khan Younis, according to the UN on Tuesday.

OCHA warned that evacuating 80% of Gaza leaves civilians exposed to danger and without essential services.

The agency noted that the North Gaza Governorate has been under siege for two months, leaving 65,000-75,000 people without access to food, water, electricity or medical care.

NEW: US says it carried out strike against ‘imminent threat’ in Syria

The Pentagon has confirmed that the United States carried out a strike against military assets in eastern Syria after a rocket attack near one of its bases.

Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder told reporters that the US military struck weapons systems — including rocket launchers and a tank — that “presented a clear and imminent threat” to its forces in the area.

Messaging: Russia conducted major naval drills in the eastern Mediterranean yesterday, featuring the Zircon hypersonic missile launched from the frigate Admiral Gorshkov.

The exercises involved 1,000 personnel, 10 ships, and 24 aircraft, testing Kalibr cruise missiles from a submarine and Onyx anti-ship missiles from coastal systems.

The Zircon, a nuclear-capable missile, reportedly reaches Mach 9 and has a range of 1,000 km (625 miles).
