The terrorist organization PKK/YPG is preparing for an illegitimate local election in northern Syria.

Through this so-called "election," which undermines Syria's territorial integrity, the PKK's Syrian wing, PYD/YPG, seeks to legitimize itself east of the Euphrates.

The PKK has activated its plan for "international recognition" by calling for "local elections" that contradict Syria's territorial unity.

This move is in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254, adopted in 2015, which emphasizes Syria's territorial integrity and is supported by permanent members of the UNSC, including the US, UK, France, Russia, and China.

The elections are planned to take place in the regions of Jazeera, Deir Ez Zor, Raqqa, Tabqa, Euphrates, Manbij, and Shahba in Afrin.

By holding these elections, the PKK aims to first establish "autonomous status" in Syria and subsequently pursue its goal of creating an "independent state."

In response, the Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS) has announced a boycott of the municipal elections.

Other political groups in the region are also supporting this decision to boycott the elections.
