Russia does not want to lag behind on drone technology.
The State President of Russia Vladimir Putin, who personally chaired the UAV technologies meeting, claimed that Russian UAVs are "effective and dangerous" and he announced that the Russian army is equipped with more than 2,000 unmanned aerial vehicles.

More than 2,000 UAVs, which Putin claims to be effective and dangerous, are far behind advanced UAV systems in terms of their design and technological capabilities. Russia does not have an UAV with operational capabilities that Bayraktar TB2 or AKINCI has.
