Biden administration deeply concerned about corruption in Ukraine.

The Biden administration is far more worried about corruption in Ukraine than it publicly admits, according to a new report by POLITICO.

A "sensitive but unclassified" version of the long-term U.S. plan lays out numerous steps Washington is taking to help Kyiv root out malfeasance and otherwise reform an array of Ukrainian sectors.

It stresses that corruption could cause Western allies to abandon Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion, and that Kyiv cannot put off the anti-graft effort.

The confidential version of the document warns that "perceptions of high-level corruption" could "undermine the Ukrainian public's and foreign leaders' confidence in the war-time government."

Türkiye supplying Ukraine with hundreds of heavy machine guns

Türkiye has recently started to supply Canik M2 heavy machine gun models, which could be used by ground troops as well as combined with armored vehicles, Middle East Eye reports.

Several contracts were signed with Turkish private arms producer Canik in March.

More than 600 M2 machine guns have already been delivered to Kyiv to be used by several services, including military and intelligence.

The European Commission is preparing to release billions of euros in EU funds to Hungary currently frozen because of rule of law concerns, in a move that could secure Budapest’s support for an increase to the bloc’s budget and significant financial assistance to Ukraine.

Releasing the funds, which have been frozen since last December, would mark a victory for prime minister Viktor Orbán, who has vowed not to agree to any increase in the EU budget until Hungary’s access to it is restored.

The commission intends to unfreeze about €13bn in funding before the end of November, three officials briefed on the discussions told the FT.
