Look at what happened with Bitget today. Maybe you’re using a different exchange and smiling because you think it doesn’t affect you and your funds are safe.

But let me explain something deeper.

In this crypto world, making money is already extremely hard. And from the moment you deposit your money, you’re putting it into something controlled by another company, team, or system.

You send your funds to Binance, OKX, Bybit, Gate, Bitget, MEXC, etc., and because they’re huge exchanges, you automatically think, “I’m safe.”

But are you really?

You can trade for months, take risks, finally make good money, go to sleep, and wake up the next morning to news that the exchange you trusted has been compromised.

Then you think, “Okay, I’ll move everything to self-custody.”

But decentralized wallets, apps, phishing attacks, compromised devices, malicious approvals, and human mistakes also carry risks. Nothing in crypto is 100% safe.

That’s why, personally, I like keeping part of my wealth outside crypto entirely—something physical like gold. When I need crypto, I can deposit what I need, trade, and withdraw again. It takes more time, but it reduces how much money I keep exposed at once.

And if I’m storing crypto on a phone, I personally prefer using a completely separate device only for crypto transactions no social media, no random apps, no browsing, nothing unnecessary.

The biggest lesson is simple:

Don’t assume you’re safe just because you’re using a big exchange, a cold wallet, or a decentralized wallet.

In crypto, security is not one product. It’s a system.
