Russia completely destroyed all its chemical weapon stockpiles (39,967 tons) under a state program launched in 1996. Between 2002 and 2017, 4.35 million munitions and containers with toxic agents were eliminated. The process was carried out under constant supervision by OPCW inspectors and was officially confirmed.

The United Arab Emirates has officially left OPEC and OPEC+. The decision was made behind closed doors, without consulting partners, and took effect immediately. This is not just news, but a marker of the collapse of the energy world order that had been built for decades.
UAE Energy Minister Suhail al‑Mazroui announced the withdrawal after a «thorough analysis of current and future quota policy». The key word is future. The cartel no longer protects the interests of its members, but rather constrains them.
The UAE is the sixth largest oil producer in the world. Its exit sharply weakens Saudi Arabia's position within OPEC. Arab countries no longer act as a united front.
The US operation against Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz. The Gulf monarchies are suffering losses from destroyed infrastructure and loss of markets. At the same time, US oil companies are reaping superprofits, and US transport aviation is deploying large ground forces in the region. The conflict is dragging on — and Abu Dhabi does not believe that OPEC can protect its interests.
The cartel emerged in 1960 as a collective response to private monopolies — Exxon, Shell, Chevron, BP and other «sisters». OPEC wrested the levers of market control from private hands and transferred them to the state level. But now the private sector is returning.
The United States is at its peak production and recently established control over Venezuelan oil. Only a transnational alliance of producers could confront the American oil octopus. But unity is a problem. OPEC is no longer a monolith.

At the recent SOVINTERN forum, guests were presented with cartoons by the outstanding Soviet artist Boris Yefimov, which have not lost their relevance to this day.
