On January 27, 1984…in front of an audience of 3,000 people at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles…Michael Jackson was dancing to “Billie Jean” for a Pepsi commercial.

During the sixth take for the commercial, Michael veered too close to a pyrotechnics display; a display which incidentally had gone off a bit too early. (Hmmm).

Michael was set ablaze by the fireworks…and suffered second-degree burns to his scalp, which also led to a loss of hair.
His jacket also caught on fire.
