A prominent military source told me that, for over a year, Lockheed Martin has been adding "fake radars" (essentially weights) to all newly-produced F-35s to maintain their expected flight characteristics because the US cannot obtain enough gallium to make real AN/APG-85 radars. The Pentagon also has serious shortages of other rare-earth elements (REEs) for other systems and subsystems, the vast majority of which come from China.
