Renewal of SkillsFuture Advice Collaboration between CDCs, SSG and e2i

To provide more support to Singaporeans in skills and jobs, the CDCs, SSG and e2i have reaffirmed their commitment to continue SkillsFuture Advice (SFA) for another 3 years. Law Awareness Weeks@CDC 2020

Minister Edwin Tong, SC announced the renewal of two Memorandums of Understanding - one between CDCs and Law Society Pro Bono Services (LSPBS) on Community Legal Pro Bono Services and one between CDCs, LSPBS, National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Social Sciences and Singapore Corporate Counsel Association on Law Awareness Weeks@CDC (LAW@CDC).

Minister Edwin Tong, SC also announced that the CDCs would initiate a pilot online project Youth Community & Legal Clinic (YCLC) to help youths seeking legal and social assistance.

LAW@CDC 2020, themed The Law and Me: Stronger Together, will equip residents can be equipped with basic legal knowledge through online webinars between 5 Oct 2020 to 6 Nov 2020.

Launch of The Ngee Ann Kongsi (NAK) - Community Development Council (CDC) COVID-19 Relief Fund (CRF)
The $4mil CRF initiated by the NAK and CDCs aims to provide more support through a one-time relief of $500 to Singaporean households whose family members have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CRF is targeted at Singaporeans aged 21 years old and above, who are currently unemployed and/or experienced loss of job due to non-voluntary no pay leave, retrenchment or termination for at least three months at point of application. 

The CRF will be rolled out on 15 November 2020, and the CDCs will work with partners to identify eligible applicants.

Launch of the Kong Meng San – CDC COVID-19 Relief Fund
The five Community Development Councils (CDCs) together with Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (KMSPKS) launched a new $4 million Kong Meng San-CDC COVID-19 Relief Fund (KMS-CDC CRF) today to help more Singaporeans households, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic e.g. loss of jobs, total loss of income and/or retrenchment.  This is the first-time a religious institution has donated such a large amount ($2 million) to the CDCs for a COVID-19 Relief initiative.  Each identified applicant (and his/ her household) will receive a one-time relief of $500.

Last year on 12 June 2020, the five CDCs launched the $20 million CDC Vouchers Scheme. With the success of the rollout, Tranche 2 of the scheme was launched by DPM Heng Swee Keat and the five Mayors earlier today, on 25 Jan 2021.

The Scheme aims to help Singaporean households defray the cost of living and at the same time, support participating local merchants and hawkers at HDB estates / heartlands during the COVID-19 situation.

Free Legal Advice for Youths!
The five Community Development Councils in collaboration with Law Society Pro Bono Services, NUS, SMU and SUSS just launched the Youth Community & Legal Clinic for youths  aged between 18 to 35 years old to seek legal advice from volunteer lawyers virtually on personal matters such as contractual matters, abuse, personal debt and more.
Applicant can register for a session of free legal advice, subject to the eligibility criteria.

Opening of the WeCare Arts Exhibition 2021 and Roll-out of WeCare Arts Experiences

Minister Edwin Tong and the five Mayors opened the WeCare Arts Exhibition 2021 and officiated the roll-out of WeCare Arts Experiences, where up to 20,000 beneficiaries can attend free ticketed arts events under the enhanced WeCare Arts Fund.

The exhibition is available to the public for free at the National Museum of Singapore, from 18 Mar – 28 May 2021.

Today, we celebrate lifelong learning for our community of persons with disabilities through the $4 Million ‘Temasek Trust-CDC Lifelong Learning Enabling Fund’!

This Fund is jointly set up by the five Community Development Councils (@centralsgcdc @necdc @nwcdc @secdc @southwestcdc) and @temasektrustsg to enable adults with disabilities to acquire new skills through training subsidies for ‘Continuing Education & Training’ courses and learning support services/ devices.

Applications for this Fund will open in December 2021 till 31 December 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted lives for the past one and a half years.  The five CDCs, together with its network of partners (LSPBS, NUS, SMU, SUSS, SCCA) recognise that Work-from-home and Home-based-learning arrangements have increased tensions among family members, resulting in a spike in family law cases. 

Mr Edwin Tong, SC, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, together with the five Mayors official launched the Law Awareness Weeks@CDC (LAW@CDC) 2021, themed “Relationships and Healing” in response to the fractured relationships caused by the current COVID-19 situation.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launched the nationwide $130 million CDC Vouchers Scheme on Mon 13 Dec 2021 at Jurong Spring Community Club. 
The $130m CDC Vouchers Scheme was first announced by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat at Budget 2021, to thank Singaporeans for their sense of solidarity during Covid-19 pandemic and at the same time, to support hawkers and heartland merchants affected by the pandemic.
Each Singaporean Household will receive $100 worth of CDC vouchers.  Only one household member will claim the vouchers on behalf of the entire household.  The CDC vouchers will expire on 31 Dec 2022. 
Look out for the CDC voucher decals that are displayed at the shopfronts and support our participating hawkers/heartland merchants.

🇸🇬 The five CDCs launched the $130 million CDC Vouchers Scheme for all Singaporean Households on 13 Dec 2021.

😊 Each Singaporean Household will receive $100 CDC vouchers. They can support and spend these vouchers at participating hawkers and heartland merchants until next year, 31 Dec 2022!

📱 Only one member of the household will need to login with Singpass to claim the vouchers. Vouchers can be shared with other members of the household.

🆘️ Let anyone who needs help claiming the vouchers, know that they can visit their nearest Community Centres/Clubs (CCs).

🌞 Priority will be given for seniors without household members to help them claim their vouchers; or those without smartphones or who need to set up their Singpass or reset their Singpass password to get their CDC Vouchers.

Encourage your neighbourhood heartland merchant to join the scheme! They can check out
Key in postal code or street name to find out where the participating hawkers and heartland merchants are. CDC Vouchers Merchants Go Where will be updated periodically.
