I don't think when they are saying "AI" it means all machine learning, it's more about how corporate greed is aggressively cutting jobs and replacing paid workers with automated models which consolidate financial and political power to the people that can afford to own them. Yeah sure advancements will happen but the mass suffering caused by just straight up greed from stockholders is very avoidable. The companies that currently have a major interest in AI do not have an interest in it because it's a tool that can further humanities advancement, they want to drive down costs to increase profits, and do not care what happens in the process. Unfortunately contrary to popular belief, none of this wealth "trickles down" it is consolidated and naturally used to again, increase the financial and political power of those holding it. In these early stages no one benefits except the people who actually own the ability to provide the technology and like sure yeah now you don't have to write boiler plate code but now 10 million more people who were considered educated need to get even more education and spend even more time and money to get a job that is now worth as much as it would be before the technology took over. So many peoples livelihoods have been effectively cut to a portion of what it previously was whether they see it directly or slowly and systematically. The reality is that there isn't really any instances of these types of situations "solving themselves" it's a slow, quiet, and oppressive decrease in everyone's quality of life because the system the live in does not have the capability to introduce revolutionary technology responsibly, and no matter what you only need to make 51% of people just barely satisfied enough to continue the oppressive cycle. Stuff like this is how you get oil execs persuading the US government to invade developing countries because the developing country decided to start regulating oil companies because believe it or not, leaving a company (which almost universally will eventually transforms into a purely profit seeking entity) unchecked will cause them to exploit the workers that work for them to the point of suffering. And all of this again reinforces the power of the people who were in control. It's a slow cycle of suffering perpetuated by a system that doesn't actually support people like it should.

Hopefully I have the motivation to actually start working on my cat tail idea soon I really am interested to see where it goes (or just how little I know)
