For those who don't know, CERN is the "European Organization for Nuclear Research". CERN is the abbreviation for its French name:
Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire

It was established as a provisional body founded in 1952 with the mandate of establishing a world-class fundamental physics research organization in Europe

CERN has 23 Member States:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom
